Books I've read in 2023
4 out of 5. Interesting memoir that makes me want to keep bees myself.
A Honeybee Heart Has Five Openings: A Year of Bees
4 out of 5. Interesting concept though farfetched that a child could do so much effective sleuthing!
The Sweetness at the Bottom of the Pie: A Mystery
4 out of 5. Well-written characters that I felt strongly about.
The Rise & Fall of Great Powers
3.5 out of 5. Received a signed copy at an evening with Sam in Edinburgh. The memoir provides some intimate insights into his life but was a bit grasping at points. Did enjoy it for the most part.
Waypoints: My Scottish Journey
A solid 4 out of 5. Laugh out loud funny and an easy enough read considering it was written in the latter years of the 19th century.
Three Men In A Boat: (To Say Nothing Of The Dog)
4.5 out of 5. I'm not generally a fan of ‘continuation’ novels (this book is the second in a series of mysteries involving characters from Jane Austen's masterpieces), but this novel and its predecessor are exceptions. Cute, easy to follow and figure...
The Late Mrs. Willoughby
3.5 out of 5. Fast-paced and exciting, though it was a bit difficult to keep track of all the characters.
