DIY Chocolate Frogs

5
Melt candy melt disks or the one pound large chocolate bars from Trader Joe's. Coat a plastic frog mold with the chocolate, using a small spoon or silicone brush. Fill interior space with Rice Krispies, marshmallows or a peanut butter and confectioners sugar filling, and then fill in the rest with melted chocolate. Let cool, and release frogs from plastic mold.

Butterbeer

3
You’ll need cream soda, butterscotch topping, and whipped cream. For each serving, mix a tablespoon of caramel syrup into a mug of cream soda. Add whipped cream topping. Drizzle with more butterscotch syrup. Optional: for frozen butterbeer, blend with ice cubes before adding whipped cream topping. Here is a recipe: funmoneymom.com/harry-potter-butterbeer

Pumpkin Juice

3
Mix two bottles of Apple juice with a quart of pumpkin ice cream. Use sparkling apple cider if you want it bubbly. Add dry ice just as guests arrive for the smoky bubbly cauldron effect. Handle dry ice with care (I use oven mitts). Our supermarket (Harris Teeter) sells dry ice in a separate locked freezer.

The Sorting Hat

1
Our Sorting Hat had a small pocket inside. I hid a receiver from a baby monitor there, and had my husband speak into the other part from another room using the gruff Sorting Hat voice. The baby monitor in the party room broadcast so he could hear everything, including which child was in the hot seat. His voice came from inside the hat. He had a list of birthday guest names, with a couple of their characteristics, and which house they would be sorted to.
